Assignment #3: Do Something Kind For Someone You Do Not Know

This week’s exercise is intended to help you to experience how it feels to do something kind when repayment is not likely. Please extend a kindness action to a stranger, someone you do not know on a personal level. Typically, these are the people you pass by or hear about as you go on with your day. It’s holding the elevator door open for someone. It’s anonymously buying coffee for someone behind you in line at the coffee shop. It’s going to the library and putting up money for the next $10 worth of fines. That sort of thing.

Before completing your act, please take two minutes to watch this video. Consider it inspiration.

After having completed your act, please post in the appropriate comments section what you did. Again, be sure to remind us who you are when you post. And for fun, please consider telling us your favorite dessert.

Assignment #2: Do Something Kind For Someone You Love

The idea this week is to get us in the habit of doing kind things for others. It need not be something extraordinary; in fact, sometimes what may seem like a small act carries the greatest importance to those we love. Just make sure it is a mindful act and is something EXTRA, something you do BECAUSE of this assignment. After having completed your act, please post in the comments section what you did. For some of you this assignment may be easier than doing something kind for yourself. If so, try to do another kind act for yourself this week AND a kind act for someone you love.
Additionally, be sure to remind us who you are when you post (there are so many of us that a short reminder will help us know each other better). If you didn’t introduce yourself last week, be sure to do so this week. At the very least tell us your name and where you are from.
Some ideas: Tell your mom or dad you love them. Help a friend with a chore. Do something loving with a family member you normally don’t do. Give someone close permission to do something they want to do that you don’t normally like (and try to like it).
QUOTE OF THE WEEK:

First Kindness Assignment

Hello All and welcome to the TEEN VENT Blog!

Assignment #1: Do Something Kind For Yourself

The idea here is to start by going within, doing something consciously kind for yourself. We must first feel good about who we are and what we have to offer before we can give to others. Please note, this is something EXTRA, something you do for yourself BECAUSE of this assignment. After having completed your act, please post in the comments section what you did. Also, consider telling us how it felt doing something kind for yourself. Was it hard or easy? Why?
Additionally, in your postings please tell us a little about yourself. As we get started it is very helpful for us to get a sense of each other.
Some ideas: Take a hot bath. Get a massage. Eat something you normally don’t let yourself eat. Read a book for FUN. Watch your favorite TV show WITHOUT guilt. Spend some extra time with your family, a pet, a friend. Got the idea??
